Online Testing with TestNav

1. Go to Assessments > Schedule. Or you can Find a test in Public Draft, and click Schedule. See Schedule a Test for more information.
2. Click the Edit Test Schedule icon to the left of the test.
3. Select the Test Settings.
4. Optional: Select Requires Secure Tester application to required the use of Secure Tester.
5. Click Save.
6. Click Save and Publish to schedule the test and publish it to TestNav. If you modify a test after it is published, you will need to republish it from Test Central or Test Detail. Students cannot take a test, and teachers will not be able to generate answer sheets or access the Score page until after a test is published.

   Do not republish a test while students are currently taking the test online or errors may occur. When republishing a test, a warning will appear if students have pending test sessions, which indicates they may have an active test session. From the warning message, you can export a list of pending students.

The QTI import and export of an item or a test in a QTI 2.1 standard is supported.

The following options are supported in TestNav:

• MP4 video (see Add Media to Test Items).
• External videos, such as YouTube videos, can be embedded in test items (see Add Media to Test Items).
• Legacy Click Stick Click Drop item types are converted to Drag and Drop in TestNav.

Accommodations:

• The following accommodations are supported in TestNav: color contrast/reverse contrast, answer masking, line reader, magnifier, Text to Speech, extra testing time, and three calculator options. See Student Accommodations for more information.
• A student's available accommodations are based on their personals needs profile, which can be viewed or modified at Student Profile > TestNav PNP. The four-function, five-function, and scientific calculators can also be enabled on the TestNav PNP page.
• For a particular test, the line reader and magnifier can be enabled in Test Settings. If enabled, these accommodations will be available regardless of student's PNP settings.
• For Text to Speech, the accommodation must be enabled in both Test Properties and a student's PNP settings to be available on a test.
• Accommodations assigned when a student took a test can be viewed on the Track Accommodations page.

Tools and manipulatives:

Tasks:

• Tasks with two activities (composite tasks) will display on the same page in TestNav. Keep this in mind when designing a task with two activities, especially when passages are included. Preview the task to make sure it appears the way you want it to.
• Composite tasks can use either default scoring or pattern scoring.
