Customize a Test

On the Test Detail page, expand the Customize a Test panel and edit the following options as needed. The options available depend on what stage the test is in (Private Draft, Completed, etc.).

To customize a test:

  1. Go to Assessments > Find for Tests.
  2. Click a test name to go the Test Details page.
  3. In the left navigation pane, expand Customize a Test.
  4. Click the option you want to customize.

Option

Description

Delete Multiple Questions

Activates checkboxes next to all questions. Select the checkboxes by the questions you would like to delete, then click the Delete button or Cancel to return.

Use caution when selecting the questions you would like to delete. There is no popup warning after you click Delete.

Reorder Questions

Change questions numbers into sequential text boxes with the word “order” above. Type your preferred order into the boxes and click Save Reorder to continue or Cancel to return. This option only appears in the Private Draft and Public Draft stages.

Question Numbers

Allows you to apply custom numbers or labels to test items if your test has not yet been scheduled. There are two ways to work with this feature.

  1. Start your test from a number other than 1. Enter a numerical value into the “Renumber all items starting with:” textbox and click Apply. This will give the first item on your test that value and will sequentially fill in the remaining values. Click Save Custom Numbering to finish.
  2. Use an alternate numbering system. For users who would like their tests labeled with something other than sequential numbers (for example, A, B, C), the item number fields may be manually edited. Click Save Custom Numbering to finish.

Item number fields have a three character maximum.

Score Groups

You can enter the cut-off point for each score group. For example, you could make the cut-off for "Needs Improvement" 50%, the cut-off for "Average" 70%, and the cut-off for "Good" 80%, with anything above 80% considered "Great." Though you enter even numbers for cut-off points, the actual cut-off points are just below what you enter. For example, a score of 69.9% would be in the "Average" score group, but a score of 70% would be in the "Good" score group.

Advanced users may want to change the minimum scores that students must receive in order to achieve a specific proficiency level. This is useful for evaluating tests that may have been harder or easier than average.

Select Override default cut scores to activate editing ability and click Save to finish or Close to return.

For prior-year tests that use archived score groups, you will see the message "This text uses archived score groups." You cannot change the cut scores for archived score groups. If the prior-year test uses custom score groups, the Override checkbox will be selected and the custom score groups displayed. You cannot uncheck the Override checkbox or change the existing custom score groups.

Answer Choice Pattern

Two drop down selections are available, one for odd and one for even questions. Choose the letter to start the odd questions and a letter to start the even questions. Answer choices will continue in alphabetical order from the letters you choose. The letter "i" will not appear as an answer choice, and the letter "t" is the last letter that will appear (i.e. the letters "u"-"z" will not appear as answer choices). Answer choice patterns only apply to multiple choice questions.

Predictive Confidence Levels

Once the above parameters have been met, you can use Assessments to view the confidence levels for a predictive test. Click the Predictive Confidence Levels to view overall confidence levels in this test’s ability to predict the Prediction Target (selected in Prediction Settings).

The remaining bars indicate how confident the system is in predicting which students will fall between each Score Group demarcation, ranging from low to high.
