Create a Test

The Assessments > Create functionality allows test creators to create new tests, items, passages, and rubrics.

You can create one of the following tests or items:

• Express Test: Quickest method. Test creators define the initial test setup and standard(s) that will be tested. The system automatically adds items that are aligned to the selected standards and builds the test.
• Manual Test: More flexible. Test creators define the initial test setup and find previously created items from the Items Bank or create new items.
• Items, Passages and Rubrics: Quick links to create a new item, passage, and rubric. Note: Items and passages that are created on a test are not automatically added to an item bank. In addition, when editing items or passages on a test that are already in a bank, changes are made only for the test -- the bank will not be updated. You can add an item or passage to a bank from Test Detail or Item Detail after a test is Scheduled, In Progress, or Completed.

To create a test

1. Go to Assessments > Create for Tests, and then select Express or Manual.
2. Follow the steps on your screen to create a test. See the following help topics for more information.

To create a test item, passage, or rubric

1. Go to Assessments > Create for Items, Rubrics and Passages, and then select what you want to create.

Understanding Test Categories

When creating tests, there are different test categories that are available depending upon your permissionsUser permissions encompass the assignment of institutions, roles, and operations to users that control their level of access in the system.:

Test Category	Where Results are Visible	Who Can Create/Edit
My Classroom	Classroom Reports by Class: The test results are available to the teacher who has created the test as well as others within the school district who have permission to view the class. Student ProfileFound by using the Find a Student search in the top right corner of the system. A graphic compilation of the performance of an individual on a series of assessments.: The test results display in the student profile and are available to anyone who has permissions to view the student.	By default, all users with access to Assessments have the ability to create My Classroom tests.
Common Classroom	Classroom Reports by Class: The test results are available to the teacher who has created the test as well as others within the school district who have permission to view the class. Student Profile: The test results display in the student profile and are available to anyone who has permissions to view the student.	Only users who are in a role at the school. Requires the Create and edit tests for an institution operation. You can verify your roles and permissions by clicking My Account (from the User icon) and checking the Roles and Operations tab.
School Benchmark	Classroom Reports by Class: The test results are available to the teacher who has created the test as well as others within the school district who have permission to view the class. Student Profile: The test results display in the student profile and are available to anyone who has permissions to view the student. Reporting: The test results are available for use in all reports.	Only users who are in a role at the school. Requires the Create and edit tests for an institution operation. You can verify your roles and permissions by clicking My Account (from the User icon) and checking the Roles and Operations tab.

Aggregate KPI: The most recent test for each grade and subject are used in the aggregate KPIA Key Performance Indicator (KPI) is a quantifiable metric that an organization can develop to help understand and gauge its performance. When properly configured and regularly monitored, KPIs are useful in the following ways: • They reflect the critical success factors of an organization • They help an organization measure overall progress toward its defined goals • They can alert leaders, team members, and others about how well an organization is functioning • They can highlight an organization’s outstanding aspects--both good and bad • They can help an organization compare its performance to that of other, similar organizations. calculation.
