Upload Scores

The Upload Scores page allows you to upload a Comma Separated Value (CSV) file with student test results or download a customized template of each question and correct response to quickly score a test.

You will not be able to upload scores if any test restrictions that prevent editing or scoring student responses are currently active (unless you have the Add or update student responses on restricted tests operation, which allows you to bypass these test restrictions).

Students must be enrolled in the current school year for assessment data to load successfully. If the current school year does not exist in the import file for one or more students, an error displays stating that errors were found. Click the link provided to view a list of these errors. You will need to correct these errors in the CSV file and upload the file again.

Upload Scores is not available for tests linked to an assignment in Canvas. Use of technology enhanced items can also prevent scores of linked tests from being uploaded.

For tasks, both the default and pattern scoring models are supported.

Leaving a cell blank indicates that the student did not submit a response for that question or that the question should remain unscored. For Inline Response, Matching, and Open Response with Rubric item types, a blank must be specified for each answer within that question. For a 3 answer matching question, for example, A||C indicates that the second answer was left blank and || indicates that all answers were left blank.

Schoolnet tracks invalid responses (for example, too many bubbles filled in on a multiple choice question) separately from blank responses and uses this information on some Schoolnet reports, notably, the Standards Mastery report in Classrooms. ​If a teacher updates or deletes a response that was marked as invalid, or if test results with invalid responses are deleted, then the response or test results are no longer tracked as invalid.

Upload Scores does not work with tests that include technology-enhanced items, such as Gap Match. If a test contains these items, the file cannot be uploaded and the following message will appear: "Upload Scores is not available for tests that contain technology-enhanced items."

To upload scores as a teacher

1. Go to Assessments > Assessment Dashboard. You can also go to Test Detail > Score Test.
2. Click the Actions button for the appropriate test, and select Score. The option to score a test may be not be available depending on your roles and operations or restrictions that have been applied to the test.
3. Click Upload Scores for the appropriate section on the Score page.
4. Optional: Click Download Sample File to obtain a customized template with each question and correct response used to score the selected test.
5. Click Choose File to search for your CSV file.
6. Click Upload.

To upload scores as an administrator

1. Go to Assessments > Score Responses. You can also go to Test Detail > Score Test.
2. Click the score icon to the left of the test name. The option to score a test may be not be available depending on your roles and operations or restrictions that have been applied to the test.
3. Click the Upload File tab.
4. Optional: Click Download Sample File to obtain a customized template with each question and correct response used to score the selected test.
5. Click Choose File to search for your CSV file.
6. Click Upload.

View file formats

• Gridded: A single response is placed into the blank cell. Decimal values are supported.
• Inline Response: B|B|A| [3 answers] B is the answer for first inline response, B for the second response, and A for the third response.
• Matching: B|C|A| [3 answers] B is answer for the first selection, C for the second selection, and A for third selection.
• Multiple Choice Items: A single response is placed into the blank cell.
• Open Response with Rubic: 3|2|5| [3 traits] 3 is level 3 for trait 1 of the rubric, 2 is level 2 for trait 2 of the rubric, and 5 is level 5 for trait 3 of the rubric.
• Open Response without Rubric: A single response is placed into the blank cell.
• Task: Activities follow the format of the selected item type and are identified with the question number followed by the activity order 1A|1B|1C [Question 1 with 3 activities] .
• True False: A single response is placed into the blank cell.
• Hot Spot: This item type is not supported.
• Drag and Drop: This item type is not supported.
• Gap Match: This item type is not supported.
• Graphic Gap Match: This item type is not supported.
• Hot Text: This item type is not supported.
